Event Details

One of our goals in discipleship is to help people develop a deeper understanding of how we worship — and why we do it the way we do. The Book of Common Prayer isn’t just a collection of services; it’s a spiritual guide that shapes our faith, forms our prayers, and connects us to centuries of Christian tradition.

The Prayer Book Boot Camp is a one-day immersive workshop designed to help you get to know this foundational text of the Episcopal Church inside and out. We’ll explore how the Prayer Book helps us pray, worship, and live as followers of Jesus in community.

This session will cover:

  • The history and purpose of the Book of Common Prayer

  • How the Prayer Book is organized (and how to find your way around it)

  • The Daily Office: morning, noon, evening, and compline prayer

  • Understanding the structure of Holy Eucharist

  • Exploring other rites and pastoral offices (baptism, marriage, burial, etc.)

  • How to use the Prayer Book for personal devotion and spiritual growth

This course is open to anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of Episcopal worship — from youth and newcomers to longtime members looking for a refresher. Whether you use the Prayer Book every Sunday or have never opened it before, this experience will give you the tools and confidence to engage it more fully.

Note: We’ll meet in Hartridge Hall, and lunch will be provided (free for youth, $5 chip-in for adults).
