Event Details

March is Youth Art Month!

During our regular EYC meeting on March 10th, we’ll be painting icons. I (Dan) will be bringing some sketches (basically coloring books) of popular icons that the youth can choose from. They’ll be able to select one ahead of time, and I’ll print it on more of a card-stock type paper. Then, using the guides we’ll have, we’ll prayerfully paint them during our group, while I share lessons on the historical practice of icon painting and some insights into some of the pictures being painted.

Each youth should bring their own frame for an 8.5×11″ print. It can be simple, or fancy. But I’m going challenge them to consider their frame as part of the presentation of their icons.

And because it’s Youth Art Month, we’ll be displaying our completed, framed paintings in Hartridge Hall for the remainder of the month of March (which takes us up to Easter Day). It’ll be a sort of youth art gallery!

After Easter, the youth are free to then take their icon paintings home to keep.
